Man speaks to authorities in Florida re white collar crime

Being named as a subject in a federal investigation is a situation that can obviously cause stress and place one's reputation at risk. If a person in Florida is facing similar legal challenges or has been accused of a white collar crime, it is advisable to seek immediate guidance from an experienced criminal defense attorney. Protecting one's rights and building as strong a defense as possible is typically crucial toward obtaining a positive outcome.

One man was accused of taking part in a penny stock scam that allegedly took place in 2008. He is said to have participated with others in creating shell companies, then convincing elderly people to invest in them. The man has stated that once he became aware he was being investigated, he agreed to discuss the matter with authorities in Florida.

Apparently, the man was indicted in March 2009 in connection with the incidents. Authorities soon after issued a warrant for his arrest. Reportedly, the man fled the United States at the time but was later taken into custody.

In similar situations, those facing white collar crime charges in Florida will want to arm themselves with strong and effective representation before facing the charges in court. It is sometimes possible for an attorney to challenge various aspects of an arrest or supposed evidence that may be used against a defendant. In some circumstances, the court will rule that evidence is not admissible if it is determined to have been gathered in a way that has violated a defendant's personal rights. Regardless of whether this is the case in an individual situation, it is always best to conduct a thorough investigation and examine all options that might be available toward achieving a favorable result in court.
