Authorities in a state outside Florida say they will request prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office regarding a recent incident. The suspected federal drug trafficking situation unfolded after officers made a traffic stop. Reportedly, they are working with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and are planning to address the case at the federal level.
The traffic stop was made on a recent Monday night. Officers pulled the vehicle over after seeing what they claim was a phony inspection sticker in the window. Police say they also stopped a second vehicle in the same area. At some point, officers claim to have noticed illegal drugs inside one of the cars.
The officers say they seized the drugs while a search warrant was pending. They also claim to have been given consent to search the other vehicle. Supposedly, hundreds of grams of heroin were seized. The street value of the alleged drugs was estimated by law enforcement authorities to be at least $80,000.
A 21-year-old was charged with driving under a suspended license. Her arraignment is scheduled for early December. Officers say they will seek federal drug trafficking charges against the woman and a 39-year-old man. They believe the two planned to sell the drugs in the New Hampshire area.
